ANDI + DAVEY
stay calm and let's plan a wedding
Remember that week in December last year when the weather watchers terrified us all thinking the whole of Melbourne was going to flood and float away...Well, that was the weekend of Andi and Davey's wedding.
December 2nd, 2017 - Extreme rain was set to give Melbourne a drenching (not quite ideal for an outdoor ceremony) but nothing would stop cool cats Andi and Davey from getting the wedding they had always planned.
Just 3 days before the big day, I met a very unexpectedly calm Davey at a private gallery space tucked away off Smith Street. A few phone calls with Andi and a hundred photos later, the back up venue was set!
Whilst the 3 meter high chrome ceremony arch we had all planned to cover in florals couldn't quite fit, after some measuring, ladder climbing and creative thinking, we decided a suspended floating garden was going to be just as effective.
After some last minute (re)planning, we got to work. A new venue and floral installation change later, it all came together. The new ceremony location also happened to be perfectly next door to their reception venue, Grub Food Van,
As the guests piled into the normally empty gallery space, a 3 meter long hanging foliage installation overhead bought the garden feel indoors.
Andi's top request for her special day was a white king protea in her bouquet. Natural and unstructured was the brief so natives were a must. Combined with some peonies, we were so happy with the finished product which continued throughout the rest of their wedding florals.
We had such an awesome time working with these two and couldn't have been more happy to create something special that represented their personality.
And their gorgeous daughter in her custom made gold sequined jumpsuit accompanied by a very special gold sprayed flower crown, we can't even!
